Getting there
It takes nearly 10 hours to get to Mestia directly in a 4x4 vehicle. There are several possibilities to get there: go to Zugdidi (capital of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti district) by either train or a minibus (from Tbilisi Railway Station) and then change into a minibus from Zugdidi to Mestia. Second option is to get to Kutaisi (capital of Imereti region, west Georgia), overnight there and proceed your way to Mestia the following day by either a minibus or a helicopter.
