Major Kazbegi Highlights

Heading for Kazbegi region we pass by Ananuri Castle. This 17^th century monument consists of fortifications, towers and two churches. The churches boast unique ornamental carvings and colourful frescoes, while the fortress stands on guard, offering an array of breathtaking views. The monument lies on the Aragvi River.

The next stop is Cross Pass. The natural mineral springs and the orange sinter cascade at the pass will amaze you.

From Cross Pass we head to Truso Valley, with a spectacular display of gorgeous scenery  - the steep slopes of the glacier valley and colourful patches formed by numeral springs.

Next, we hike to the Gergeti Trinity Church that is imposingly erected on the backdrop of Mount. Kazbek. This small church is an embodiment of the Orthodox faith that enabled human beings to build such a charming church at 2100 metres above sea level! Mount Kazbek, often called Mkinvartsveri, is the third highest mountain in Georgia and one of the biggest in the Caucasus. We stay overnight in a guesthouse in Stepantsminda.

The second day begins with Meteo Station that is located on the cliff and overlooks Gergeti Glacier. This is a huge and colourful building.  We stay overnight in the Meteo Station, where local operators will welcome you warmly with spirits.

The next stop is Sno Valley, distinguished by its abundance of stone sculptures. The valley is a warm-up for climbing the Chaukhi Mountains.

Chaukhi Mountains have a lot of steep cliffs; at the foot of the mountains you can spot the valleys that are carpeted with colourful flowers. We spend the night in Meteo Station.

The next site is Devdoraki Glacier. While climbing slowly up the birch forest you notice that the area is rich in sub alpine vegetation and on the way, superb views of the glacier are offered.

The famous Dariali Gorge is one more ‘must see' place, where one can enjoy bird watching. This is truly an unforgettable experience!
