One Day Monastery and Cave Tour

Davit Gareja monastery complex was built in the 6th century and since then has contributed to the religious and cultural development of Georgia. See the hundreds of cells, churches, chapels, refectories, living quarters, and walls covered with frescos to provoke your interest.

Sighnaghi is fenced within the remnants of a fortification. While looking at the colorful houses, wooden balconies furnished with flowers and antique carpets, you lose your sense of time and feel as if you have entered a different era. There are also two distinguished churches of St. George and St. Stephen found here. The romantic town has an Archeological Ethnographical Museum where interesting materials found during archeological excavations are displayed.

In Telavi and its surroundings you can find many interesting monuments:

The Alaverdi Cathedral is the second highest cathedral after Tbilisi Sameba Cathedral. It was built by the Assyrian monk Yoseb Amba in the 6^th century. The present day cathedral belongs to the 11^th century. The walls the cathedral is wrapped in was used as a shelter during invasions with tunnels that were hewn in the walls to connect people to the Alazani River and provide them with water. From here you can see fantastic views of the Alazani river.

The next stop is Ikalto Monastery Complex. It was built in the 5^th century. It consists of three churches, the principal one Khvtaeba (8^th - 9^th centuries). In the 12^th century, an academy was founded here, where the great Georgian writer Shota Rustaveli studied. The remnants of the academy are still preserved.

The following ‘must visit' site is Shuamta Monastery Complex. It is unique in the sense that the three churches constituted here belong to different periods: 6th, 7th and 8th centuries and contribute to the diversity of the complex.

On the way we visit Gremi - the 16th century architectural monument. Gremi was a former capital of Kakheti region. The monument comprises of a church of Archangels, bell-tower and wine cellar. They are wrapped in a defensive wall that consists of turrets, towers and gun emplacements.
