The tour begins either in a car or a minibus (depending on the number of the travellers) from Gudauri. Then everyone changes into skis. After skiing down the village Arakhveti, the group gets into the car/minibus and drives to Gudauri.

Ski Tour to Lomisa Church

The route begins in Gudauri. In 20 minutes you are in the village Mleta that is 1500 metres away from Gudauri. It is a picturesque village, situated on the gorge of the upper Aragvi River, on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains.

After visiting village, Mleta, the tour heads to Lomisa Church which is erected on the hill, at an elevation of 1900 metres above sea level. The church can be seen from every part of Gudauri. It was built in the ninth century and is one of the oldest churches in Georgia. In the central pillar of the church there is a big chain. Georgians believe that if you place it around your neck, make a wish and walk three times around the pillar, your wish will come true. You can enjoy spectacular views from the church.

From the church, you ski down to village Arakhveti and then drive back to Gudauri.
